Social Networking Sites in China

With more than 300 million Internet users overall in China, the social networking market has the potential to expand rapidly. Based on a Pearl Research survey conducted with over 2,000 Internet users, Tencent's QQZone has a 33% user market share, with Xiaonei at 20%. US company Facebook has a low 3% usage rate as the company relies on its users to translate its site. MySpace has fared better as a result of its earlier entry into China; it has roughly an 8% market share. Many users though have multiple accounts across the top sites.

The results are excerpted from Pearl Research's market brief. Email your Pearl Research contact to purchase the file and for additional survey results.
